Bereavement
A
national organisation which offers personal and confidential support for
all who are bereaved, to come to terms with the grief and suffering of
losing a loved one. Offers one to one counselling in the bereaved person's
home by trained people; counselling groups; social meetings and practical
advice.
Provides emotional support and information to people with cancer their families and friends and health professionals.
The leading national charity providing information and counselling for people affected by cancer. All services are free and confidential.
A charity working to improve the treatment and care of people with cancer and their families.
Provides free practical nursing care at home and specialist care at 11 cancer centres across the UK. Referrals are via doctors and/or district nurses.
Ovacome is a nationwide support group for all concerned with ovarian cancer. It provides information on treatment and diagnosis and raises awareness of the condition. A telephone network of fone-friends offers informal support.
Offers support and information for cancer patients, their relatives, friends and carers.
Pain
Association Scotland runs a network of support groups for chronic pain
sufferers and their carers. Each group runs a programme which ensures
a healthy mixture of understanding, support and learning pain management
skills. A new group is being opened for the Borders area in May 2000.
